Is a forex rebate legit? How it works and what to watch
A rebate is a normal part of the broker IB model: the broker pays commission to the IB, which returns part to the trader. It is a common cost-optimisation method in many markets.
Why the 'scam' talk exists
The problem is rarely the rebate itself but individual providers' claims and handling: exaggerated rates, hidden conditions, links that never activate, delayed payouts.
What to watch
- Be wary of 'guaranteed profit / capital protected / double your money' talk (a rebate does not change P&L; it only refunds cost).
- Make sure the rules and payout cycle are clear and verifiable.
- Confirm the IB link is active.
- Only use regulated brokers.
